About Antrodia cinnamomea
Comparison of Different Cultivations of T. camphoratus (A. cinnamomea)

Wild

Growth time:2-5 years

Source:Grows in the inner cavity of a decayed tree trunk of Cinnanomum Kanefirai Hay.

Advantage:Large amount of bioactive compound.

Shortcoming:1.iIllegal
                     2.Long growth time.
3.The host tree is protected species and illegal to gather.
4.Hard to distinguish real from imitation.
5.Easy to get contamination.(heavy metal, etc)
6.Hard to absorb active compounds. ( Triterpenoids and alcohol-soluble)
                     7.Expensive (NTD 192,000-800,000 /catty)

Cut-log Cultivation

Growth time:1-2 years

Source:Using cut-log cultivation method to obtain fruiting bodies under strict controls.

Advantage:1.The active ingredients from fruiting body are similar to wild species.
                   2.Avoid illegal tree felling.
                   3.Avoid contamination.
4.Easy to absorb triterpenoids and polysaccharides after extraction

Shortcoming:1.Long cultivation time (2 years)
                      2.High cost

Solid-state Cultivate

Growth time:120 days

Source:Using high efficiency from solid-state cultivation method to obtain the mycelia.

Advantage:The triterpenoid content from solid state cultivation is similar to that in wild fruiting bodies.

Shortcoming:1.Long cultivation time. (120 days)
                      2.The cost is slightly higher.

Liquid Fermentation

Growth time:7-14 days

Source:Using the liquid fermentent to obtain the mycelia.

Advantage:1.Cultivation time is about 7-14 days.
                   2.Low cost(NTD 2,000/kg,800/L)

ShortcomingDifficult to obtain the triterpenoids.
